There are three categories of water damage/intrusion that will help determine the quote:

Clean water (from broken supply lines, sink overflow etc.) It is possible to effectively restore the structure to pre-loss condition by thoroughly and rapidly drying materials, and by replacing only materials with permanent structural or aesthetic damage.
Contaminated water. Water with a significant degree of chemical or biological contamination includes water from fish tanks spills, aquarium leaks, water bed leaks, toilet bowl overflows, dishwasher or clothes washer discharges. Category 2 water has the potential to cause sickness or discomfort so special steps must be taken in order to return the structure to pre-loss condition. At a minimum affected carpet and underlay must be removed and disposed of and carpet must be thoroughly cleaned using hot water extraction.
Grossly unsanitary water. Water sources include discharge from toilets that originate from beyond the toilet trap (from the sewer or septic system) and intrusions from the surface of ground water into the structure (flood water). Various cleaning and documentation procedures must be used, including the removal of highly porous materials affected by the water intrusion including carpets, underlay, wall boards and insulation.
