When vacuuming is not enough, carpet steam cleaning may be the answer. For those who live on the Sunshine Coast, you should consider steam cleaning your carpets and upholstery. Not only to remove the dirt, but for effective sanitation to get rid of germs, bacteria, and viruses.
What is Carpet Steam Cleaning?
Steam cleaning has been around for nearly a century. The concept is simple enough, water is heated until it turns into steam inside a special machine. Once heated, the steam is injected into the carpet where it loosens the dirt and debris. At the same time, the carpet is vacuumed which pulls up the loose material into the carpet steamer.
The main advantage of steam cleaning is that it uses few chemicals in the process. The steam not only removes dirt and debris, but also organisms such as viruses, bacteria, and germs. Plus, they can remove small pests including mites, bed bugs and mould.
The preparation and the Steam Clean
Start by removing all the furniture from the room or at least move it to one side. Dust the room and remove any cobwebs or similar debris from the walls so it does not spill onto your freshly cleaned carpet. Wipe down all windowsills and clean the baseboards so all that is left to clean is the carpet.
The steam cleaner is worked from one side of the room to the other keeping in a straight line for maximum effect. It does operate much like a standard vacuum, except to move a bit slower than normal to ensure removing all the particles. Only the power of the steam, which is heated water, is used to remove the imbedded material.
Steam cleaning works very well on carpets of different types and on upholstery if the material is fabric in nature.
